How can I Support APEJECM / MGAP ?

Your support (no matter how small) will make a huge difference.

Why support us?

MGAP is a not for profit, volunteer run association. We are formally constituted in Portugal and act as a focus for everyone who has a special interest in Mediterranean horticulture, gardens and plants. We aim to promote sustainable Mediterranean plants and gardens, through education, cultivation, conservation and recognition of their communal, environmental and economic importance in our everyday lives.

We are a founding member of Mediterranean Gardening International (MGi), Affiliated to the Mediterranean Garden Society (MGS) and the MGAP Botanic Garden is registered with Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI).

So far, we have been mainly funded by memberships, events and book sales. We have already achieved much with limited funds, but we are now at a point where to do more, we need additional funding. A key focus of our educational remit is the development of our Botanic Garden in Silves, on 2.2ha of land held under a 10-year partnership agreement with Quinta da Figueirinha. Within the current agreement there is a “right to buy” clause. We would aim to purchase the land to ensure its future. Additional funds will help us to develop new demonstration gardens and facilities, ongoing maintenance and development of educational resources.
